It was an eventful Moment in Agbor metropolis, as The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Dr. Benjamin Ikechukwu Kiagboekuzi 1, on Saturday (3rd of October, 2020) performed the ground breaking ceremony of the former CTC market been reconstructed to International Standard, as well as renamed to Dein International Market
The event which was well attended started at about 11 am, with stakeholders and principal officers of the Council in attendance as well as other dignitaries.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. (Barr) Victor Okoh while delivering his welcome address disclosed that it was historic because the site was originally designed as Christian Trading Centre, CTC, which metamorphosed for market for the sales of variety of goods and services.
Barr. Okoh further said that the Council thought it wise to look inward for additional source of revenue to the local government.
He noted that the best way the Council could achieve the reconstruction of the market to international standard was to enter into Public Private Partnership Known as PPP, with Graceland Channels Ltd of No. 35, Guobadia Avenue Off Etete Street Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria which according to him was the best option for the Council to achieve her dreams.
Disclosing further, the Chairman thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for giving them the approval to execute the Multi Million Naira project which he said will boost the economic activities of the local government area.
Responding, the Dein said, it was a pleasure to have such a heart melting initiative insisting disclosing that it will enhance the economic activities of the local government area. He promised to wholeheartedly support to the Council Chairman and the Private Partners.
Reacting to the event, the Chairman of the traders of the former CTC market, thanked the Council Boss for the laudable project, adding that it was a veritable means to enhance trading of various goods and services.
He therefore urged government to reduce the proposed amount claiming, that with what they were hearing from grapevine was a bit high for some persons.
