Delta 2023: Stop claiming To Be Okowa’s Annointed Candidate – Okunbor

By Iroroh Frank
A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Delta State and the publisher of Daily News Analysis of Nigeria DNA, Chief Alex Okunbor has urged some aspirants jostling to get the party’s governorship ticket for the 2023 Delta State gubernatorial election to desist from telling the delegates that they are the anointed candidates of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Chief Okunbor stated this during an interactive section with journalists in his office at Asaba, Monday 22. He maintained that Governor Okowa he knew does not joke with his integrity.

His words, “I wish to use the medium of this Press briefing to urge some aspirants jostling for the Delta State PDP tickets for the 2023 governorship election to stop deceiving the party’s delegates by claiming that they are anointed candidate of Governor Okowa. Governor Okowa I know does not joke with his integrity, his words are his bonds.”

“Recall that the governor had on 22nd January, during the PDP Mega Rally held at the cenotaph Asaba, stated most emphatically that he is going to provide a level playing field for all the governorship aspirants during the party’s primary. This implies that he will act impartial and ensure that the rules governing the primary are maintained.

Governor Okowa can not promise a level playing ground and equal opportunity for all the aspirants and at the same time anointing particular aspirants, he is not wired for such deception. Chief Okunbor started.

Continuing the Oline media guru said, “some of these aspirants should desist from using the Governor’s name to craftily boost their candidature to mislead the people because Okowa has never declared that he has any anointed candidate.”
“I know those involved in this unhealthy campaign strategy and if they don’t desist, I will be left with no option but to launch a negative media campaign against them”.

Chief Okunbor further explained that the aspirants involved in such practice are trying to cause division and disaffection between the governor and other aspirants, stakeholders, groups, individuals and interest parties in PDP. He, therefore, urged the public to disregard anyone campaigning with the Governor’s name, as such claims were “baseless and untrue”.

The PDP Chieftain urged the governor and the party’s leadership to investigate the matter and call those involved in the act to desist since Governor’s name, as well as the party’s integrity to run a free and fair primary, are at stake.
